Walter Rodney’s Children’s Book Launch - Kofi Badu & Lakshmi
These books chronicle the lives of 2 young Guyanese children, Kofi Badu and Lakshmi to explore the complex history and diverse cultures of countries like Guyana. Dr. Walter Rodney wrote these books in the last year of his life, to educate young people to contribute to the racial unity and consciousness of the nation, despite pressures to keep the people divided. The book is part of a broader, unfinished educational series Dr. Rodney was creating. After decades of suppression, the book was integrated into Guyana's national school syllabus.
