In  Episodes 1 and 2, we focus on contributors to 'Sacred Black Ecologies: Jamaica' as they reflect on building a Sacred Ecology, drawing from their research trip. They explore ancestral memory, archives, and the intersections of memory justice, the academic industrial complex, and cultural liberation, sharing insights on practice, collaboration, and transoceanic connections.

ABOUT

Sacred Black Ecologies is a curatorial and research project conceived by Dr. Janine Francois, exploring land, ocean, and ancestral memory as living archives across the Caribbean, West Africa, and the UK. Its first phase includes a collaborative research trip to Jamaica, funded by The Bartlett School of Architecture/UCL, co-produced with Connie Bell and  Amahra Spence  with Connie also serving as co-researcher, and video documentation support by Denisha Anderson.

In this episode, Black Sacred Ecology researchers and recorders reflect on what it means to practice and build a Sacred Ecology at the intersection of archives, memory justice, the academic industrial complex and cultural liberation .
