DTA SHORT COURSES AND PROGRAMMES STANDARD TERMS & CONDITIONS
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your participation in all short courses (“course(s)”)or programmes (“programmes”) provided by Decolonising the Archive (“we”, “us”, “our”) both independently, and in collaboration with partner organisations. By booking a place on a course or programme, you agree to these Terms in full. A short course/programme is defined here as any course/programme consisting of 10 or fewer taught sessions delivered within a 12 week period.
2. BOOKING & PAYMENT
2.1 A place on a course/programme is confirmed only once full payment has been received and accepted by us unless a discretionary payment plan has been offered and agreed upon. If an agreed payment plan is in place, confirmation of a place will be taken as the date and time upon which you agree to this plan in writing.
2.2 All course/programme fees must be paid in full by the stated payment deadline (which will be communicated to you by email, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
2.3 If a payment plan is offered, this is discretionary and subject to separate agreement. Any outstanding payments on your plan remain due even if you fail to attend course/programme sessions.
3. CANCELLATION BY PARTICIPANT
3.1 All cancellation requests must be made in writing (email accepted).
3.2 Cancellations received before the course/programme start date (the date of the course/programme orientation session) will be eligible for a refund of fees paid, subject to the deduction of an administration fee. Once a refund has been processed on your request, you will not be able to access the remainder of the course/programme.
3.3 Cancellations received after the end of the first orientation session will not be eligible for a refund. Beyond this cut-off point, all programme fees are non-refundable.
3.4 Fees remain payable in full for any cancellations made after a course/programme has begun, including in the case of any discretionary payment plans.
4. EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES
4.1 Refunds outside of the normal cancellation terms may be considered at our discretion in cases of serious and verifiable circumstances beyond your control.
4.2 If a refund is granted under exceptional circumstances, Decolonising the Archive reserves the right to deduct and administration charge for the processing of the cancellation request.
5. COURSE/PROGRAMME CHANGES & CANCELLATIONS BY DTA
5.1 We reserve the right to cancel, reschedule, or change the format, tutor, or content of a course/programme at any time.
5.2 If we cancel a course/programme entirely, you will be offered either a full refund or transfer to a future course/programme.
5.3 We will not be liable for any additional costs you incur (e.g. travel, accommodation) due to course/programme changes or cancellations.
6. ATTENDANCE & PARTICIPATION
6.1 You are responsible for attending all sessions of the course/programme and participating as required.
6.2 No refunds or partial refunds will be provided for unattended sessions.
7. LATE ARRIVAL
7.1 If you arrive late to a course/programme, fees remain due in full and no refund is available for missed time.
8. TRANSFERS & DEFERRALS
8.1 Requests to transfer to another course/programme or to defer must be received in writing preferably in good time before the commencement of the course/programme, and not later than the date of the course/programme orientation session. Transfer and deferment requests submitted after this date will not be considered.
8.2 Transfers or deferrals are discretionary, subject to availability and may incur an administration fee.
9. MATERIALS & ACCESS
9.1 Any course/programme materials (digital or physical) remain our property or in some cases, the property of our third party licensors (tutors).
9.2 Participants may be granted access to online content or resources for the duration of the course/programme only, unless specified otherwise.
10. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
10.1 All intellectual property rights in course/programme content remain with Decolonising the Archive and/or third-party licensors.
10.2 You may not copy, share, or distribute course/programme materials without prior written permission from the intellectual property rights holder to do so.
11. DATA PROTECTION
11.1 Your personal data will be handled in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018) and our Privacy Policy.
12. COLLABORATIONS & PARTNERSHIPS
12.1 These terms and conditions apply to all short courses and programmes led by Decolonising the Archive. Where we are collaborating with another individual and/or organisation in order to deliver the course/programme, additional terms and conditions set out by these individuals and organisations may apply. In such cases Decolonising the Archive will advise you in writing of these in advance of your engagement in the booking process.
13. GOVERNING LAW
13.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales.
