PERFORMING INDIGENEITY IN A NEW LAND
A dynamic community workshop designed to address and support mental well-being in African Caribbean communities residing in Britain. Led by Black theatre practitioners, performers, and community learners, this engaging event utilises indigenous performance techniques to construct identity frameworks. Drawing inspiration from Una Marson's Pocomania, we explore alternative approaches to sustaining cultural memory through movement, language, and cultural expression, shaping our collective identity and sense of nation building. Held at the National Theatre's Duffield Studio and guided by leading professionals from across the African diaspora, this session promises to be an enriching and enlightening experience.
