The Sirius B star is important in several African cosmologies. It has been linked to ideas of renovation and origins. Ancient and modern African peoples had knowledge of Sirius B long before its discovery by western science in the 20th century and have passed this knowledge down through generations in both written and oral forms. The Sirius B story is one of many examples of the sophistication of African understandings.

The Sirius B Detoxification Station is a temporary intervention run in collaboration with Black History Studies and the Africa Centre. It is an interactive platform, drawing on the breadth and depth of African heritage to provide functional spaces for wellbeing. The programme explores renovation, healing, time and temporal shifts, engaging various frameworks drawn from the African experience.
