Anansi Rebooted unravels the art of narrative across media, generation and geographical space. It is a series of events exploring the call and response methodology made popular in African music. Artists, activists and communities are invited to respond to a creative call (usually a film) in any way they deem appropriate.
The quintessential anti-hero of folk tales across the diaspora, the Anansi character is strongly linked to ideas of heritage and transmission. The appearance of Anansi beyond the borders of the African continent demonstrates both cultural resilience, and the importance of stories and storyteller within our communities.
Through engaging African diaspora cultural producers, Anansi Rebooted stimulates open conversation about identity, lineage and representation.
